Why I Started a Wig and Topper Store

Integrity Wigs Started- 2021

Formerly known as Wig Chicks, I embarked on a journey to start my own wig and topper store. You might wonder, what led me to dive into the world of hairpieces? Well, it all goes back to a personal experience that impacted me greatly.

Growing up, my father wore a toupee. Seeing him transform with a full head of hair not only amazed me, but it also gave him a whole new level of confidence. Witnessing the positive impact, a hairpiece had on his life planted a seed in my mind.

I was always fascinated by how far wigs have come from their early days. No longer just a solution for hair loss, wigs and toppers have become a fashion statement and an accessory in one's wardrobe. They can instantly change your look, boost your confidence, and allow you to express your unique style.

With the advancements in wig technology, people now feel more confident than ever to wear them. Gone are the days of uncomfortable, unrealistic-looking wigs. Today, wigs and toppers are designed with the utmost care and attention to detail, ensuring a natural and seamless blend with your own hair.

Starting Integrity Wigs was my way of sharing this newfound confidence with others. I wanted to provide a space where people could explore different styles, colors, and lengths, allowing them to reinvent themselves and embrace their true selves.

HOW TO MEASURE

HOW TO MEASURE

Wigs come in a range of different sizes and it's important to take accurate head measurements to ensure you're buying the correct size for you. It should fit like a glove! A wig should feel as secure and comfortable as possible.

Follow the below directions, and take no less than six measurements to ensure the perfect fit!

HEAD CIRCUMFERENCE

The first measurement is for the circumference of the wig, so the measurement is taken along the natural hairline. To capture this measurement, place the end of the measuring tape at the center of the forehead - right at the hairline or a little below - wherever you would like it to hit your forehead. Pull the measuring tape around behind the ears, down to the nape of the neck - at the base of the head/scalp - and then up around the other side, behind the ears, to meet at the center of your forehead.

FRONT TO NAPE

The second measurement is from the front of your hairline to the back, or nape of your neck. To capture this measurement, place the measuring tape at the same place on the forehead as you did for the circumference measurement. For this one, it’s extra important that the hair lies as flat as possible - either in braids or parted down the middle and pulled into two ponytails, so that the scalp is exposed in a straight line. Pull the measuring tape straight back down the center to the nape of your neck - where the scalp ends at the base of the head.

TEMPLE TO TEMPLE

The third measurement is from one temple to the other. To capture this measurement, place the measuring tape against the hairline at one temple, and stretch it around the back of your head to the hairline at the other temple.
Please note, the measuring tape should follow a straight line from front to back and around the largest part of the head.

LENGTH OF NAPE

The fourth measurement is the easiest - it’s the length of the hairline at the nape of the neck, which falls in a curved line at the base of the head. To measure, simply place the measuring tape at one side where the hairline begins to turn upward toward the ears - and measure to the other side where it does the same thing. For reference, most people have a nape measurement that is around four inches long.

EAR TO EAR

The fifth measurement is particularly important for a frontal wig; it measures the front hairline from one ear to another. To do this, place the end of the measuring tape where the top of one ear connects to the head, stretch it up the hairline, along the forehead, and down to the same point on the other ear.

Tip from our cosmetologist: if you’re going glue-less, subtract one inch from this measurement to ensure a perfect fit. Ear top to ear top.

LIKE A HEADBAND

The sixth and last measurement is from the top of one ear top to the other. This one is super important because everyone’s head is shaped differently. Some of us have more rounded skulls, while others are more or less flat across the top. This measurement ensures that the wig sits firmly over the top of the head – we don’t want the wig to fall short before reaching your ears nor do we want it to cover them!

Note: this is similar to where you would wear a headband (just a little more on top of the ear, rather than where a headband would sit behind the ear).
If you have any questions prior to purchase (note, all sales are final), please email us: contact@integritywigs.com with a link to the wig you may be referencing.

ASK OUR STYLIST

ASK OUR STYLIST

Ok, so is there really an honest advantage to purchasing real human hair? Let's talk about a few...

Human hair absolutely has the best overall look and feel because... it is REAL hair. Let's face it, it has unbeatable shine, movement and versatility that truly cannot be matched with synthetic fibers. Just like our hair, we can shape, style and gently alter human hair to match our desire. The durability, with proper gentle wig care, will last much longer and here's the good news… you can donate your piece when you no longer want to rock it because there are opportunities to recycle human hair.

Let's also mention:

  1. There's a better "fit to your head" factor as premium hair has a variety of caps, hairlines, lace and usage options (one example is the way you would wear a sports wig has a different hairline and use than a full wig).
  2. Human hair wigs are not as prone to knotting and frizz. Synthetic, because it is not natural, has been known to bunch, knot and frizz in areas where the wearer sweats (neckline, hairline) are two common areas.
  3. Ideal outcome. A human hair wig is the best quality due to the tedious process in intricately sewing piece by piece by master wig crafters. This enables a customer to have a more natural and accurate look that can be altered by a stylist (highlights added, hair curled, straightened etc).
  4. Longevity! Synthetic wigs do not last a fraction of the time as human hair does. If gently handled with proper human hair wig care, they can last years. And as mentioned above, they are sought after to be donated.

Closing thought, quality over quantity always wins. The reasons mentioned are unrivaled and you will end up saving money, time, and many headaches in the long run.
